Kids and Crafts: Indian Headdress Craft

Simple, fun, and colorful! These are the best words to describe this Thanksgiving Indian headdress craft. This craft is a great activity for younger children in preschool and serves as both a creative arts activity and a dramatic play activity.

  • Construction paper in brown, yellow, orange and red
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Embellishments of your choice
Create the band for the headdress by cutting out a length of brown construction paper that is about 2 inches thick (width). Wrap the band around the child’s head to measure the correct length of the band and then cut to the necessary size. Tape the ends together. Encourage children to decorate the headdress band.
Draw feathers on red, yellow, and orange construction paper. Help children cut them out. Encourage the children to decorate the feathers with embellishments such as leaves, glitter or any other Thanksgiving related items. Attach the feathers to back inside of the back of the hat.
